A withdrawal sleeve typically slides onto a cylindrical shaft with a tapered surface. The inner bore of the withdrawal sleeve is tapered to match the taper of the bearing's inner ring. This assembly simplifies the mounting process by providing a suitable surface for the bearing to slide onto.

The withdrawal sleeve has a nut and lock washer that, when tightened, secures the sleeve onto the shaft. This design allows for straightforward installation and removal of bearings without the need for elaborate tools. When dismounting, loosening the nut releases the sleeve, making it easier to take off the bearing.
